Finally, after so many years thinking about doing it, tonight at Bar Tra in Lugano, I, along with two other guys, launched a project to build an AGI.

We share a clear vision of what we want to achieve and how we are going to do it.

2007 is going to be a very interesting year.

    Nature of the AGI architecture? Commercial vs. nonprofit project? Estimated number of years to Singularity? Friendly or malevolent?? Etc. Enquiring human minds want to know…

    I won’t give many details just yet.

    It’s a kind of recurrent artificial neural network structure that is somewhat related to structures found in the brain. Whether we publish in an academic journal or turn commercial depends on what sort of results we manage to obtain over the next year or so of coding and testing.

    As far as friendliness goes, it’s something we are aware of, but it’s too early to investigate this issue in terms of design specifics. At this point our discussions are at a more abstract level. However once the system is constructed and functioning at a primitive level of intelligence, we will need to deal with these issues in a concrete way.
